Star of the week - Miny

Monday 30 April 2018 No comments
Star of the week will be beginning Term 2. Friday afternoons I will announce the star of the week in Room 18. They will get to take Miny home for the weekend. Miny comes with his own backpack, book, stickers and pencil case. Please help your child to write about the exciting adventures they had with Miny over the weekend, so they can share this with Room 18 Monday morning.

Countries Around the World

Friday 20 April 2018 No comments
For the first half of Term 2 we will be exploring a topic called 'Countries around the World'. Some of the children in Room 18 will be teaching the rest of the class about their country. We would love to have some parents come in and help their child teach us about their country or a country they have visited. If you are interested in this, please come in and see me or flick me an email. grace@georgestreet.school.nz

You might like to prepare a PowerPoint or poster with your child, or bring in some photos, food, clothing etc. from that country to show us.

Thanks for your support.

Read-a-thon

Friday 13 April 2018 No comments
The children have been issued a read-a-thon sponsorship card. These came home in your child's book bag early this week.

The read-a-thon will take place on the second week of term 2, beginning Monday 7 May. As they read, children (or their parents) record the number of books on the sponsorship card, and at the conclusion of the read-a-thon, Friday 11 May, total up how much they have read and start collecting their sponsorship money.

As part of the read-a-thon week (on Friday 11 May), we are having a dress-up day. Your child is welcome to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. Why not plan to come to assembly (2.00pm in the hall) on that day to see the grand parade.

Read-a-thon money needs to be collected from sponsors and handed to class teachers by Friday 18 May. All money raised will go towards reading resources in the school.

Thanks in advance for your support.
