Poetry Competition

Sunday 20 May 2018 No comments
Each year we run a poetry reading competition.  The children are asked to choose a poem which they will introduce and read to our class.  From our class I will select two Year 3 children to represent our class in the Middle Team Competition. Our in class poetry readings for the year 3's will happen during week 5. Two children in Year 2 from our class will also be selected to read with the Junior Team in Week 10. Our in class poetry readings for the year 2's will be during Week 9.

The children will be asked to introduce the poem, to read clearly and to read with expression.  The poem does not have to be memorised.

Your child's chosen poem has been glued into their homework books to practice at home as well as at school.

Please come and see me if you have any questions about this. Thanks for your support.

Great effort with the read-a-thon Room 18! We had a lot of fun at school today dressing up as a book character.

It's now time to start collecting in the sponsorship money for the read-a-thon.  Please bring your card and money, in your plastic zip bag to the classroom. Remember, if you have your money in before Friday, you go in the draw to win a prize!

It's read-a-thon week! Don't forget to read as many books as you can and record it on your sponsorship card. We have decorated our door, inspired by the book Fox in Socks by Dr Seuss. It looks fantastic! What do you think?

Describe and Draw Partner Challenge

Wednesday 2 May 2018 No comments
We got into partners and sat back to back. One partner had to draw a picture using only shapes and then describe their picture to their partner ,who had to listen and draw what they said. Once we had finished we looked at each others pictures to see if they were the same, close or different. This was challenging, but lots of fun!

Ordering Number Silent Challenge

Tuesday 1 May 2018 No comments
We each got a whiteboard and wrote a number between 1-100. Without talking we had to get into order from smallest to largest. We found this fun and challenging. Next time we do it we will time ourselves so we can try to beat our time!
